The FSI votes against the Accor demerger

Exclusif
06/30/10 10:22am

Surprise yesterday when the votes were counted at Accor's AGM. The FSI, which had decided to abstain, finally voted against the demerger.

Good governance sometimes has purely technical limits... According to WanSquare's information, the FSI (Strategic Investment Fund) which holds 7.4% of the capital of Accor, and which had several times shown its opposition to the group's demerger plan before adopting a much more flexible position, voted against it yesterday at the AGM. And yet a preparatory meeting had been held by the FSI to decide what position to adopt on the voting.

The managers had finally decided that the best option was to abstain, but they had not foreseen that the voting slip handed to shareholders provided for only two options: for or against. The representative of the FSI then finally voted against - which, of course, didn't change anything concerning the result of the operation and the forthcoming stock-market launch of EdenRed.
